COME AND JOIN US SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW!

Tomorrow is last day for Wizard of OZ presale tickets!

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” James 1:9

When my children were young, I was always fascinated regarding how often they could memorize lines and even entire scenes from various movies and then just insert and recite them during various unique situations. Furthermore, as I keep dropping into Wizard of Oz practices, I am somewhat shocked and slightly impressed at how many of the actors’ lines I can also jump in and deliver by memory!

However, one scene in The Wizard of Oz just brings me to tears every single time that I watch this movie! It occurs when Dorothy is preparing to head back home to Kansas by clicking her ruby slippers together, but before her departure, she stops to say farewell to all of her new friends. Her final good-bye is to her beloved friend the Scarecrow to whom she whispers in his ear, “I think I’ll miss you most of all.” (Even as I am typing this, tears are flowing down my cheeks!) My three children were totally aware of how this line affects me, and as soon as that scene would begin, every head would turn and stare at me to see if the tears would fall again... and just like the post office, I always deliver!

So imagine my emotional state when we moved my second son to his first nursing job, which was hundreds of miles away in Nashville, Tennessee. After we had him all unpacked and were ready to leave, there were tearful goodbyes as he hugged each family member. However, when he got to me and whispered that movie line, “I think I’ll miss you most of all” into my ear as he hugged me, I think it took me until the Kentucky border before I stopped crying!

Great stories have a way of captivating hearts and making strong emotional connections!

As a result, we are so excited to bring this classic story to life as St. Matthew Lutheran School proudly presents The Wizard of Oz on May 5 & 6.

Please plan on joining us as Dorothy and her friends lead us on an “OZ”-mazing journey to the Emerald City in search of brains, a heart, courage, and the desire to return to a loving home.

During your travels, please plan to stop by the “Emerald City Café” to enjoy tasty delicacies such as Tin Man heart pizza, Scarecrow’s Straw Pretzels, Dorothy’s Ruby Slipper cookies, Wicked Witch cupcakes, Lollipop Kids’ lollipops, and various other treats.

In addition, we will sell Yellow Brick Treasure Bars! Each night, 20 pieces of various forms of treasure will be hidden inside the chocolate bar wrappers, so come and see if you can locate an exciting prize - including a pool party for your class at Mrs. Palka’s house!

Due to our recent Art teacher vacancy, we will not host a formal Art Show this year. However, our spring Book Fair will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings.

So... it’s time to click your heels together three times and buy your tickets now!
Tomorrow, Friday, April 28th, is the last day for presale tickets but remaining tickets will be available in the school office throughout the week and at the door on May 5 & 6.

We hope to see you there!
There’s no place like God's home!
