SOAR INTO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:19

Have you ever purchased a gift that seemed like a great idea at the time, but after giving it to the intended recipient, you second guess your judgment?

Last Saturday, we had the joy of celebrating our grandson's 2nd birthday, and after witnessing how often he wanted to ride his older sister's electric scooter, I initially thought that it only seemed logical that he should have his own Spiderman electric 4-wheeler! However, I was shocked at how much larger it looked once his little body was sitting on it! Feeling very responsible as the gift giver, I found that I couldn't leave his side as he peeled out of the driveway at a breathtaking speed of 2 mph! Eventually, my husband asked, "Are you always going to follow him around every time he rides this thing?" to which I replied, "I'm considering it!" After sending this photo of Max on his new bike to a friend and receiving the response, "You only have yourself to blame for what happens next", I instantly thought, "What have I done?"

God bless the moms (and grandmas!) that can let adventurous children do their thing! Did you know that:

Bobsleighers can travel down trails at 93 mph
Luge participants can sled down icy paths at 87 mph
Ski Jumpers can fly through the air at 59 to 65 mph
BMX bikers can reach speeds of 35 mph coming off various ramps

And for each one of these amazing athletes, there was a courageous, encouraging mom who drove them to lessons, washed their uniforms, attended their competition, and supported them throughout their exhilarating endeavors and passions. After spending years with my face buried in my husband's arm as we watched our kids pole vault, wrestle, and play soccer, I know that I am not that courageous mom! Yet, I cling to the promise and find peace in the truth that my kids have a courageous and all powerful Heavenly Father who is always with them and always watching over them.

This Sunday, September 26th, we have the pleasure to welcome some of these daring and fearless athletes as St. Matthew Lutheran School hosts “The Freestyle Connection BMX Stunt Show”! Please join us in the back parking lot at 2:00 p.m. (For your comfort, please feel free to bring your own lawn chairs.) In addition, everyone who attends will enjoy a tasty treat from the Frios Gourmet Popsicle Truck! This is also a wonderful opportunity to come and meet some new friends so we hope to see you there!

In His Love,
Mrs. Palka
