TWO TEAMS HEADING TO DI GLOBAL COMPETITION NEXT WEEK!

"Every good and  perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."   James 1:17

Lately, my middle son has fallen in love with the company entitled, "Personalization Mall", an online business that allows for you to create your own type of personalized items.  With a personality mix of creativity and a flair for selecting gifts, the sky is the limit for this boy, now that he has found a company that allows you to design your own gifts!

As a result of this new fascination, his family and friends have been recipients of some pretty unique presents.   For example, at Christmas, each family member received a coffee mug from his dog, Finnegan, decorated in a collage of family photos where each of us is posed with Finn.  For his buddy's baby shower, he put a photo of himself on a baby onesie with the caption that said, "Ask me about my single friends."

And for Mother's Day, he mailed me this:

Often in these moments, I think, "You sure can tell that kid was in DI for 12 years!"  Much of his humor, problem solving, and creativity, I credit to Destination Imagination for cultivating these personality traits.  Now that he is grown and employed as a nurse, I only hope that his patients and employers appreciate this unique skill set.

For almost 18 years, Destination Imagination has been positively influencing the students of St. Matthew Lutheran School, and next week, TWO of our St. Matthew Destination Imagination teams will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee, to participate in the 2017 Global Tournament!

It is such an honor to represent the state of Michigan at this tournament, but it is also expensive.  As a result, both of these teams need to raise funds in order to participate.

If you would like to show your support, one way that you could do this is by purchasing tickets to come to their Paradise Park "Games for Globals" Night tomorrow night, May 19.

Paradise Park is located at  45799 Grand River Ave; this event will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are available from any 3rd or 7th grade DI team member or located in the school office.  You can also purchase tickets at the door.  Tickets cost $10 and one ticket allows for you to participate in two events (with exception of Go-Carts).

Both teams would also appreciate your prayers as they travel to Knoxville next week.  Please pray for safety during their journey and that they can radiate the love of Jesus during this international competition where over 17,000 children from 48 states and 18 countries will be participating.

God is so good, and these teams are so excited to represent their school, their state, and their Savior during this Global Competition!

Have fun this week and do something creative for Jesus!

In His love,
Mrs. Palka
