“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
“Papa…throw me again!”
Those were the words that gleefully squealed from both of my grandchildren over the summer during a family dinner that also involved time in the swimming pool.
So Papa, who is known to always be the life of the party, dutifully obeyed the requests by picking up and launching each child across the pool to the best of his ability. After about the tenth toss, I leaned over to my daughter-in-law and said, ”When Papa can’t lift his arms tomorrow, I’ll have to remind him of this game.”
Sure enough, guess who has been attending Physical Therapy twice a week for the past month to help his sore shoulder?
Sometimes, we truly don’t know our own strength!
However, this Friday night, St. Matthew Lutheran School is thrilled to be hosting “The Conquerors of Faith”, and they truly know their own strength! This team will not only impress you with their amazing power, but they will also share a Gospel message during their performance!
Please join us as this group of amazing athletes demonstrate “feats of strength” such as bending steel bars, twisting horseshoes, snapping baseballs, breaking bricks, and so much more! Your family does not want to miss this exciting opportunity for entertainment and fellowship with our entire school community!
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a light hot dog dinner and fellowship. The show will begin at 6:15 p.m. and conclude by 7 p.m.
To help us prepare, please sign up HERE by 5:00 p.m. TONIGHT so we know how much food to prepare.
However, true strength is not determined by how much weight one can bench, or how many push-ups one can accomplish, or how far one can run. True strength comes from the Lord.
Scripture states in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
We are so excited to host this demonstration, not just for the amazing physical demonstrations, but more importantly for the demonstration of strength to share one’s faith.
Praying this event will be a blessing to everyone who attends!
I hope to see you there!
