We're On Our Way into the 2021/2022 School Year! And Already... There has been so Much Joy in this Journey!

Have you ever planned for a vacation or an event and found it very difficult to sleep the night before the big day? After all the preparations and organization, the anticipation generates such a strong sense of excitement that it is just difficult to relax and settle into a deep sleep. For many of us, that is what we experienced last Sunday night, as we were so excited to start the 2021/2022 school year!

There is NO Impossible With God!
Who knew when last year’s sixth grade class selected the 2020/2021 theme to be “There’s No Impossible With You”, it would become such an appropriate and encouraging battle cry for this school year? Based on the Scripture verse found in Matthew 19:26 "With God, all things are possible", we stood in awe as we watched the Lord work in different, yet powerful, ways this school year, despite a global pandemic!

Throughout my entire life, one thing that I do not enjoy is goodbyes. Being a mom with children who select not to live in Michigan, you think I would become better at this, but I haven’t, and I still cry at every farewell. So, probably one of the most painful tasks for me as a principal is to say goodbye each year to another amazing group of students like the Class of 2021!
A Severe Case of Puppy Love!

I answered my daughter’s FaceTime call a few weeks ago and was greeted with the opening statement: “I’ve got something to show you and don’t try to change my mind because I’ve already paid for it.”
There's a Nightmare in My Closet!

It started as a slow methodical drip that only my ears heard as its consistent rhythm would lull me to sleep. Over the course of time, the drip’s speed progressed to the sound of raindrops falling against my shower tile, which finally had Ken’s attention. By the time an available plumber could be located, the once small leak had evolved into a steady stream.

One thing that I have learned during my 31 years of being a mom is that one unique gift God has given to mothers is their keen sense of perception and the ability to know when and when not to be concerned.
When my children were younger and lived at home, I could tell by their cries, their body language, or their mannerisms when there was a serious problem. However, I found that as my children have become older and have moved out of state, I usually can tell by the first few words of a phone call or the opening line of a text when a situation is serious.

A pastor in Oklahoma City was delivering a message on the topic of unity to his congregation of approximately 1000 worshippers, some who were there worshipping in-person as well as those who were attending through the church's video streaming service. The pastor was preaching about how easy it is during the 21st century for Christians to live separate lives, and, as a result, fail to see the need to live in unity with others.
